Bio

I am Nikki, a mother of two little brown-skinned girls. I live by the Arafura Sea, under a canopy of palm trees.

I first learned the joy of sewing as a child: my Nana used to give me small bags of scrap fabric, with which I made Barbie clothes. I learned the basics of machine sewing at High School and beyond, and after endless years of procrastination, I finally got the machine out and made a basic pillow-case dress. And that was it!! From then on, I couldn't sleep without dreaming up new ideas and designs.

I have been selling my creations online for 3 years now, and have a following of repeat customers who are now addicted to Monsoons & Mangoes.

I adore vintage fabric and often repurpose old bed linen and doilies. In my designs, you'll find floral, ruffly, girlie skirts and dresses, flares made with bright, bold retro vintage fabrics - most are a one-off, and some styles are never repeated. I love pockets, so you might find a perfectly coordinated patchwork pocket, my favourite folded-over circle pocket, or crochet doilies.
