After searching for the perfect bedding for my daughter’s first big-girl bed, I decided to teach myself (with the aid of instructional books) how to make a patchwork quilt, and made the bedding myself. I made that twin-size quilt entirely by hand and I fell in love with the craft. I find it is most convenient and most relaxing to do hand piecing, and many of my items are completely hand-sewn. I like the primitive aesthetic of hand-sewn items, and I hope you do too.
I consider each of my quilts to be a work of art. My designs are much more intricate than simple 2-tone checkerboard patterns, and I try to stray from traditional quilt blocks. I’m more interested in being original and inspired, than being prolific. No two items are exactly alike, so you know you are truly buying a one-of-a-kind. Aside from quilts, I have ventured into making other decorative patchwork products.
I never considered selling my pieces, and only made them as a hobby. Then I discovered Etsy. If I could share my items with buyers throughout the world that would just be icing on the cake. I make all of my products in my smoke-free and cat-free home (we do have a short-haired Chihuahua, but he stays away from my projects). I only list quality items and pride myself on my attention to detail. Because Etsy for me is merely a hobby, and not my livelihood, I think you’ll find my prices to be very reasonable. And rest assured that just because quilt making is not my profession, does not mean I am not professional.
I’d be happy to make a custom product just for you. Feel free to convo me with your ideas and wishes. Thank you for supporting Etsy artisans, and thank you for visiting my Etsy page. I hope you enjoy Lavender Patch products as much as I enjoy making them.
