Tutu Cute & Moore! became a reality in 2001 when I was asked to create an "over the top" line of tutus for a new children's boutique in Columbus, Ohio. Although still working with the buyer of that boutique, Tutu Cute & Moore! is now creating custom orders for shoppers looking for something unique for their child, or for gift giving. All I can say is since the first tutu, "I've come a long way, baby!"
My inspiration for creating came from my mother who patiently taught me to sew and do hand work as a young girl. After many years of breaking needles and jamming up my mother's portable Singer sewing machine, I stepped up and purchased my own Singer machine in a cabinet, using my first tax refund. That was in 1968 and I'm still using my trusty old aqua machine with all of it's heavy duty metal parts.
All of this led me to a 35-year teaching career in Home Economics, now renamed Family and Consumer Science. During that time, I passed on my enthusiasm for the art of sewing to hundreds of both male and female high school and middle school students. And what a fulfilling challenge that was! Now I enjoy being my own boss, setting my own hours, and enjoying creating colorful gifts for the sweetest, most innocent beings on earth...our children!
