Bio

Mixed Media Jewelry is the combined effort of Moon and Bob Stumpp. We specialize in mixed media artisan art jewelry, lampwork beads, and unique jewelry components. Our designs run the gambit of classic and elegant to whimsical.

Moon's Bio:

My main livelihood came from jewelry design and creation. Then the miracle of glass manipulation took place in September of 2003. Glass, previous to that day, was lovely to view and very fascinating; now it has become my obsession. I have become totally and absolutely driven to make beads from glops of molten glass on a stick. I have officially been kissed by the flame.

The jewelry that is I design now comes the influence of the mix of lampwork, lapidary, fiber, and silversmithing. I am pushed by the need of color that flows and ebbs within the flame.

I do not make any claims of perfection, even though I strive towards that goal. The only glass rules that I follow… is for the beads to be structurally sound and well made, combined with creative integrity. Everything else is, negotiable.

The influence of much of my lampwork comes from many different styles and favors. I have been greatly influenced by people such as Larry Scott, Kimberly Affleck, and Jennifer Geldard. This is because I greatly admire their work and because I’ve had the pleasure of studying with them.

Bob's Bio:

My addition to Mixed Media Jewelry is in working with rocks and wire (wire wrapping and chainmaille). I started working with wire doing wire wrapping in 2003, and in 2005 I started doing chainmaille. The majority of my wire and chain is done in sterling silver and are used for jewelry and jewelry components. I do use bright aluminum for making chainmaille clothing.

In 2004, I learned how to take a slab of rock and turn it into a cabochon, so now hand cut and polished stones are available.
