Bio
Born in the warmth of Florida, raised in the heat of Georgia, and tempered in the cold of the North East, I'm an artist with the ocean in my blood and a long family history of Gardening.
Artist Statment:
I see the world as being completely connected; one idea is always connected to about five others. In trying to talk directly about any idea I am often left with sililoqiues and wandering paragraphs that few have the patience to wade through. With ceramics I can communicate almost subconcsciously, bringint in tht sense of connectedness by invoking memories and thoughts through texture, form, color and weight. I begin to try and reach out to other people with these objects, knowing that they will never see the same thing that I do in them. Yet I have never ment them to. I want to provided a mirror fot te subconcisou for myself and for others. I want people to touch the works, respond to them, to see a memory or pull out a thought-a response buried deep within him or herself.

Store Policies: a work in progress:
1. Shipping- Shipping for most items is done by UPS within 2 days of the order. If you have had the worst experiance in the world with UPS, I'd love to hear the story and let me know who you'd rather had it shipped by. Small Items (under 1 lb) will be shipped by the USPS via priority mail.
1.1 Boxes and the like- Whenever possible I reuse a box. Until I find a box manufacturer who uses a sustainable replacement for trees (and they are out there) I feel obligated to contribute as little to landfill as possible. That being said, I also wrap my items nicely within the box, so you'll get something you can enjoy to unwrap.
1.2- Cost of Shipping: The cost of shipping includes the price of the shipping materials (such as popcorn, tape, paper, and boxes where applicable), the time spent shipping (usually about 10 minutes), and the cost to get the box/package to the appropriate mailing location.
--- It has come to my attention that some expect to only pay the postage part of the cost of shipping, and are upset when they recieve a stamp that is for less than they paid for shipping. If you wish to come and pick the piece up from me in person, I am willing to drop all shipping fees and look forward to your visit at my studio/fair that I am selling at. Otherwise, these are all the costs of getting the item to you. I do my best to be reasonable with the costs and never over-charge, but these are the costs of shipping.
2.Returns and exchanges- Returns must be done within 24 days of the recieving date. Broken items not accepted unless the breakage happened in the mail--in which case I need to hear about it with in 5 days of the recieving date.
In place of a full out return I will offer to recreate the piece as best as can be done, as long as the request is recieved within the alloted time period of 24 days. Anything fired in the Glowworm (wood) kiln will take until the next firing, look to www.dewclawstudios.com to find the date of next firing. (Asking me is fair too. ;) )
3. Warnings: All ceramics are microwavable and dishwasher safe unless otherwise posted.
--Raku items are never microwavable nor dishwasher safe. Ever. You're not really supposed to eat/drink from them either, but in the case of white crackle cups, there is a tradition of tea that states that a cup that is properly "matured" adds to the fullness of the taste. (By matured, we're talking about things growing in the cracks of the glaze.) Drink at your own risk.
