BigRockMosaics's Profile

Bio

My philosophy is that I believe that all art can be integrated into everyday life.

I believe that if it looks nice, it should be functional. All of my functional mosaics aren't there for show - you are supposed to use them all the time.

I use contractors grade materials in the adhesive, substrate, grouts and grout dyes. My mosaic tile is used by some of the most well known mosaic artists in North America.

I have researched - through contractors, kitchen experts and interior designers to create kid-tested, functional and art-inspired kitchen mosaics - one that will stand the test of time.

I love to help out with projects - the advice is always free and I am happy to share my knowledge of making your own functional mosaic.

The "Big Rock" in Big Rock Mosaics was named after the place I call home - Okotoks, Alberta Canada. "Okatok" is the Blackfoot word for "Big Rock" - and the "Big Rock" (just outside of Okotoks) is the world's largest Glacial erratic.
I am inspired by the sights and sounds of the prairies - the flowing patterns of wheatfields, the majestic Rocky Mountains & rolling Foothills, which I am fortunate to see everyday. I am also inspired by the Group of Seven Founding, and A.Y. Jackson & Tom Thompson are one of my most favorite artists.

Some of the things I love... lino block prints, origami paper, mayan art & CBC Sunday Morning (the ultimate in Canadiana...)

Most of all.. I love my kids.

Thanks for stopping by!
