Hello friends!

Right now my shop is dedicated to my favorite artistic medium: encaustic painting. I am very excited about sharing my new artwork with the fantastic etsy community. My inspiration comes from many things in my life... music, dreams, people in my life, and my love of the earth and all things living.

"What in the world is ENCAUSTICS?"

Encaustics, painting with beeswax, is a pretty unique medium that is gaining in popularity. It is one of the oldest forms of painting out there. First the beeswax is melted down; next it can be colored with pigment or kept its natural color. The wax can be layered, with each layer being fused to the layer beneath it. Paper, string, and other items can be embedded into the wax, making it great for collage work. As you can imagine, the possibilities are endless!

"How do I take care of it?"

The care for your encaustic artwork is a snap. Because beeswax is naturally water-resistant, it makes for one of the most stable media we have. Just keep your room temperature above freezing and below 200 degrees (as most of us do!). Over time, dust particles may gather on the surface of the piece. No problem, just gently wipe the surface with a soft cloth, like the kind you might clean eyeglasses with.
