ShirleyTreasure's Profile

Bio

My passion for textiles took me on my life journey from Cork, Ireland to Perth , Western Australia.
I went to Galway to study art and design majoring in woven textiles in 1991. Then I travelled to County Kerry (1991-1998) to complete weaving apprenticeships where I enjoyed over seven years tapestry weaving and production weaving on a one hundred year old traditional fly shuttle loom.

Since moving to Australia and starting a family, I combine all my skills to create unique pieces of textile art for both display and function. I have a collection of twenty looms and work mostly on my LeClerc Weavebird 16shaft CAD loom. I am a member of various art and craft groups including WAFTA, The Online Weavers Guild and the "Handweavers’, Spinners’ & Dyers’ Guild of Western Australia, Inc"
