Bio
I have a background in fine art, a BFA in graphic design, and a lifelong love of unique handmade jewelry. In 2004, I heard about Precious Metal Clay and became excited by its combination of jewelry, clay and design. I immediately signed up for a class with Hadar Jacobson, and have been making PMC jewelry ever since.
Precious Metal Clay, or PMC, is composed of microscopic particles of silver mixed with a moist organic binder to create a material that has the feel and working properties of modeling clay. After air-drying, objects are fired to temperatures approaching the melting point of the metal, where the particles fuse together into .999 fine silver, more pure than sterling silver.
My jewelry design is clean-lined and contemporary, with themes from the ocean and from geometric forms. I'm still excited and inspired by the endless possibilities of this exciting medium. I also love how the jewelry feels soft and organic, even though it's metal.
In 2006, I began Handful of Silver (http://www.handfulofsilver.com) and now sell my jewelry on the web, at galleries in Ohio and at private home showings. For information regarding upcoming shows, please email me at info [!at] handfulofsilver.com.
I am a member of the PMC Guild, and the San Francisco Bay Area Silver Clay Guild, and have been certified as a PMC Artisan by CeCe Wire, the former Executive Director of the PMC Guild and now the Guild’s Local Chapter Liason.
