About me:

My name is Kay and I'm a Canadian artist, currently residing in Prince Edward Island. I love animals (especially dogs) and share my home with a Long Haired Chihuahua/Pomeranian, Jack Russell Terrier, Jack Russell/Chihuahua, and a Quaker Parrot. I come from a family full of artistic talent. Needle felting is something I learned a year ago, but wool has quickly become my favourite medium to work with! I have also been sculpting in polymer clay for years. I've always had a strong passion for animals, especially dogs, and could never live without them in my life. I truly enjoy combining my love of animals with my love of art!

I love to do commissions! I know how important it can be to have keepsakes to remember our pets by when they are gone. I love being able to create miniature versions of customers dogs. It gives me such pleasure to bring comfort to owners whose pets have passed, and joy to owners whose pets are still living.

Technique:

Simply put, needle felting is the process of taking raw wool roving and using a special barbed needle to sculpt it into shape. The sculpting is done by poking the wool fibers thousands of times until they interlock and felt together. This process is extremely time-consuming, and each sculpture normally takes 25 - 35 hours to create.
