Bio

Welcome to Earnest Efforts. We are a husband and wife team from Southern Oregon, about 65 miles from the beautiful Oregon Coast. We met at the Eugene Saturday Market, the longest running outdoor market in the US, where we each had a booth selling our wares. We married a year later in September of 1999 and have a wonderful life together nestled in the woods of our 27 acres with our 15 year old dog, Maya, our four month old puppy, Myrtle, six good hunting cats, two roosters, and one hen. Almost forgot the deer, racoons and skunks we live with. Rick has been a woodworker all of his life and been with the Saturday Market for over 20 years. Heather has been a fiber artist for nearly 15 years, and handknits and felts wool/mohair blended hats in addition to the woodworking.

Each rattle and spirit shaker is unique and individually crafted from woods that we have collected from the Pacific Northwest. We use copper coated steel bbs, Elmer's ASTM & ACMI certified non-toxic wood glue, and Clapham's all-natural bees wax. We do not use stains. We now sell them to stores all over the US, Canada and Australia.

Our hair barrettes are a keeper. We use the barrette clasps made in France and use brass screws to secure them rather than glue. We guarantee all of our artwork for as long as we are visiting this planet.

No trees are ever cut for our artwork.
