ntroske's Profile

Bio

I'm a jewelry artist, trained in classical jewelry making techniques, such as granulation, chainmaking, metalsmithing, and enameling.

After receiving my BFA in 1973, I began jewelry making in 1976 with a silversmithing class at a local crafts center. I moved on to the Jewellery Workshop & Gallery in NYC where they taught classical & ancient jewelry and enameling techniques. I taught jewelry making at a small art gallery and in my home studio until moving to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1979.

In California, I continued my jewelry education at the California College of Arts and Crafts and at the Revere Academy of Goldsmithing (the name of the school back then). While attending classes I was employed as a bench jeweler doing repairs and diamond setting.

My passion is working with color and combining classical techniques with the amazing choices of materials that are now available for jewelry designers. The main focus of my work is enameling.

Until my recent move to Princeton, NJ, I taught jewelry making in my home studio and at the Croton-Cortlandt Center for the Arts, a not-for-profit visual arts education center based in the Town of Cortlandt, NY.

I will be teaching jewelry making at the Princeton YWCA and West Windsor Arts Council in Winter 2010. Please contact me if you would like information.
