Thanks for visiting my shop! Everything is handmade by me, including the glass cabs. I have worked in a variety of medias such as paint, clay, paper, glass and metal. Recently I have been working with silver (soldering) for 2 years and working in fused glass for about 3 years. Since learning about lapidary (cutting my own stones) I have enjoyed manipulating the glass for jewelry in different ways. Many of the glass cabochons I have made - started from a larger mass of glass that I carefully design/build and fuse. It's fun--it's like working with a slab of fiery opal. Not unlike gemstone cutting, I map out and purposefully cut, shape and then polish the dichroic glass cabochons. Because I fuse several layers of dichroic glass - creating visual depth - all the glass cabs have been fired at least twice, some as many as 4 times. Every single one has been shaped specifically, that is, none are sold or used straight from the kiln (with the common “water drop” shape around the edge of the cab). The glass cabs are not fragile...they are relatively thick, and as sturdy as many gemstones. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions! Thanks!
