If you came here I'm guessing that you're interested in a little more about me.

My name is Jane Sylvester and I have been lampworking since September 2006. Before this I was heavy into making jewelry using glass beads. When my mom mentioned I could learn how to make the actual beads I was enthralled. One glass, I mean class, and I was hooked. I am seriously addicted to melting glass and making beads.

I create unique glass beads one at a time in my basement studio using a Lynx torch. The process is called lampworking or flameworking. After being designed and shaped in the flame each glass bead goes into my Skutt kiln to be annealed. The annealing process increases the durability of my beads. Since I can only make one bead at a time each one is unique and no two are identical.

About my supplies - Most often I use moretti and vetrofond glass but I also incorporate ASK and CIM glass, all with COE 104(co-efficient of expansion). I also enjoy using reactive glass from a company called Double Helix.

Since September 2008 I have been selling beaded pendants at a wonderful art gallery that supports local artists. I've listed a few of these finished pieces here. If you are a Windsor native or just visiting you can check out some of my pieces at Nancy Johns Gallery at 4755 Wyandotte E (www.nancyjohns.com). I also demonstrate lampworking, convo me if you want to know when my next live demo will take place.

I'm friendly and enjoy feedback, even if you don't purchase anything. Just convo me!
