Bio

My name is Sherri and I am a pen-o-holic with a serious glass addiction. I'm happy to say that there is no treatment for my condition.

This all started in July 2000 when I bought a pair of earrings in an airport and thought "I could do that". I then quickly became infatuated with little glass beads known as seeds beads. A few years later while working with seed beads, I heard the term "lampworked bead". Because I did not know what this creature was, I investigated and during my investigation I embarked upon a bead making class. This was kind of fun so I dabbled until August 2005 when I enrolled in a 5-day lampworking class and then I was thoroughly hooked. After that class I set up my studio at home.

At Christmas 2005 my husband asked me if I could make a glass pen. My obvious question was "Why?" His response was so that I could have much nicer pens than those I have "stolen" and collected in my purse (I once counted 50 pens in the bottom of my purse). I took the challenge on because 1) I am a pen thief err collector and 2) it was a challenge. From this I discovered that I LOVE making pens because they are a challenge to make and the design possibilities are limitless.

During my lampworking journey, I have also discovered that making sets of beads was just not my thing as my attention span maxed out at 2 beads and as a result, I concentrated on focal beads. Then one fateful day a huge discovery was made: pendants!! Always one of a kind and limitless in design. Now my work has evolved into more sculptural and into borosilicate, but the pendants will always be there.

So what does Intuibead mean? Intuibead means a bead made by intuition, no plan, no set course, just listening to what the glass tells me.

I am a proud member of the Creative Glass Guild of Etsy (CGGE), Alberta Etsy Street Team, and the TransCanada Etsy team.
