Bio

Hi and Welcome to Violet Rose Designs.

I’m a local designer from Queensland, Australia specialising in Original Quality Accessories with a strong Costume flavour. I’ve been designing and making Clothing, Costumes and Accessories for over 20years now.

Most of my experience has been as a Patternmaker and Costume Maker for Live theatre, Opera and Film, so Violet Rose Designs has sprung up from my passion to create and share some of the wonderful imagery, colour and magic; I have often experienced working in Costume for stage and screen.

The name for the label is my mums name who was born in 1939- 40, an era which I love to draw inspiration from, I thought it the perfect muse for my creations. It encompasses many of the fabrics, clothing and styles which I am naturally attracted to.
Each design is handcrafted using new and old materials, such as hand dyed antique lace, trims and glass or plastic beads, while the base of each piece is made from new materials of velvet, gross-grain ribbon or lace.

Inspiration for many of these creations comes from the past, incorporating simple beauty, elegant lines and an emphasis on colour and texture.

There are many designs to choose from: Simple Chokers, Beaded Chokers, Lace Bibs, Jabots, Velvet Armlet's and more, including Elaborate One-Off styles for that special occasion.
I hope to add to my range with dresses, 40,s styled petticoats, Tulles skirts and Organza Bustles. My hope is for people to dress up, have fun and feel beautiful, so hope you enjoy looking through my range of designs.
