WELCOME to Lucy's Locket!

A bit about me... my favorite thing as a child was to go foraging with my mom in our old Chevy station wagon on Trash Day, picking through other families' discards deposited at the curb. Or we would spend hours sorting through waist-high bins of old clothing at our local Salvation Army. Mom called these forays "looking for makin's," and we'd drag home the battered furniture, the discarded clothing, the genuine 19th-century cobblestones—anything that "looked interesting" or was potentially useful. Then we'd rip it all apart and clean it up to make "new" antiques, school clothes, or a walkway for the garden.

Years later, I still devote my time to trolling the thrift and secondhand shops and playing with the makin's. I sell vests, scarves, and bags of my own design from harvested thrift and vintage fabrics under my own label, "Nice Threads." I also write for various sewing and craft magazines about creative ways to transform thrift and vintage finds into artful wearables and accessories.

I live in the beautiful Tidewater area of Virginia with my husband Lynn, Welsh Corgi Cher, a rescued lab mix named Buddy, and a black kitty who calls himself "Dominoe." My other hobbies include raising plants from cuttings (free plants!) and making garden art from curbside castoffs.
