Bio

I'm JoSelle. Just your every day, 20-something writer and jewelry designer living in Salt Lake City, among the mountains and the Mormons.

Basilisks 'N' Beads was founded in June, 2007, and takes its name from the fact that I like beads and basilisks. No, not the gigantic serpents J.K. Rowling made popular Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. The REAL basilisk looks like a cross between a serpent (or lizard) and a rooster, because it hatches out of a snake's egg in a hen's brood... or a rooster's egg in a snake's brood. Take your pick, the ancients couldn't really decide. Its glance can kill, and it's the most poisonous animal on earth. I love the little darlings!

A lot of my jewelry is based on mythological or folkloric themes and characters, including my own novels, poems and stories.

With the exception of a few beading classes and one class in Byzantine chain (a skill with which I am STILL grappling - darn it, those links are tricky!), I'm self-taught. My educational background is actually in English (British studies emphasis) and theatre (design, dramaturgy, playwriting and criticism).

I'm a Leo who acts, thinks and talks more like a Gemini.
