Bio

I am an artist, Mommy to two amazing and beautiful children, and married to my best friend and soulmate. Our wonderful, creative, and very busy children are ages 6 and 4, so I create during stolen moments, and when I definitely should be sleeping!

I want to make people feel happy with my art, because I feel so happy creating it. When I create, I am blissful, and when I can't, well, I'm a mess. :)

I chose the name Hearthside Cottage, because it represents who I am, and how I feel when I am creating. Like my Irish ancestors before me, the hearth means a great deal to me. It represents family, and the center of our home, it is warm, and it is the place where so many of my favorite memories have taken place.

I love to sit by the fire with a good cup of coffee and dream, work on my art, or snuggle with my loved ones. Even in the summer, when I'm outside as much as possible in my gardens, I feel connected to the hearth and can't wait until it's cold enough to get a fire going. It's such an oasis from the craziness of life.

"Cottage" comes from how I want people to feel about my art; warm, cozy, restful, and happy. I enjoy making people feel that way. I'm also in love with quaint little cottages and the way of life they represent. Simple, tranquil, such a comforting escape!Maybe it also represents a simpler time, long ago, when fresh air, living off of the land, and handmade wares were a way of life...

Having this store on Etsy is a dream come true for me. It's the perfect way for a busy mom like me to stay connected to something I love so much (creating) and to other artists who are so inspiring to me. If I'm not careful, I could spend hours every day just taking in all the diverse and awesome art here. (Way more fun than cleaning!)
