ABOUT ME:

I love books. I have walls of my house devoted to them. I particularly love blank books. The best thing about starting a new school year was always the fresh, empty composition books. Buying a new journal makes me giddy. There is so much potential in the empty pages, so much hope and promise.

I took a class at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, North Carolina, to learn to make them myself. I'm committed to pursuing this old art with excellence.

I enjoy art and love my family, but my life and my purpose have come from knowing the Person of Jesus Christ. He is the reason that I live and breathe and have my being. Making books or any kind of art is a pure act of worship toward him. I hope that you know Him as the Lover of your Soul, as well.

ABOUT MY BOOKS:

These books beg to be used. Their greatest hope and desire, like the Velveteen Rabbit, is to be loved into well-worn keepsakes. All of my bindings will last through infinite openings and closings. The coptic binding allows the book to lay contentedly flat on your desk or a sunny table by the window. Many of the books include a pocket or an envelope within the structure to hold whatever precious little bits you desire. Most of the folios are ripped by hand so pages start out with the comfortable look and feel of a deckled edge.

My reinvented journals are made from wonderful old books that have been carefully deconstructed so as to maintain the integrity of the covers. All the edges, including the binding edge, are protected by the original cover material. There are no exposed book board edges to inevitably wear or fray.

All plain text pages are made from all-cotton Velata from the Cartier Magnani mill in Italy. This subtly-textured, ivory paper has held up nicely to all of the pens and markers I use and will even handle some acrylics and watercolors if you use a light hand.
