Hello! Welcome to GrandmaWasAFloozy!

In designing my floozies, I look for ways to incorporate the old-fashioned and intricate styles that I love into pieces that can be used or worn in a modern, every-day context. I’m always poking through vintage patterns and fashion adverts, looking for the inspiration to create something new.

I love steampunk, which I feel provides a potent answer to the disposable nature of the objects with which we're surrounded: The things we buy, the tools we use, the clothes we wear, are part of a limitless supply. If we lose one or throw it away, we can always get another one. So we take them for granted, and why not?

A steampunk object, on the other hand, is valued as much for the ingenuity of its design and the care of its completion as for its intrinsic value. The Steampunk aesthetic values time and effort. When we interact with a steampunk or antique object, we're challenged to treat ourselves, and our endeavors, with the same care and respect that went into the creation of that object - just try getting that sense of connection from a plastic spoon, or a pair of tube socks.
