I am a stay at home mom of two. I have always loved to be creative. Of course when I had kids those juices slowed down a bit and my attention has been focused on them. I love staying home with my children but economy makes it hard to do financially. I’ve also learned, in order not to loose myself, I need to find myself in something creative. Thus out of a creative necessity, Lala B. – Unique Koa Earrings was born, named after my daughter…Lala.
I started making my earrings March of 2007. My earrings are made with the dual effort of my husband and I. I design, assemble and sand out the earrings. My husband (who builds guitars and ukuleles) sprays the finishing. The wood we use for the earrings are salvaged pieces from his instrument making business.
Growing up in Hawaii, you sometimes take for granted the beauty around. I’ve always known the Koa tree to be very precious here in Hawaii. But I never really fully appreciated it until recently. It truly is a beautiful wood . And we are fortunate to have it indigenous to Hawaii.
When you order your earrings they are put together with much attention to detail and with a little touch of Lala (3 yrs), who is usually sitting on my lap “helping” me.
I hope you find something you like. Thank you for your interest.
