WHO AND WHY?
combining our shared interests in modern design and sculptural furniture, with a desire to create pieces of true craftsmanship, melia was established in 1999 by john-paul melia and lucy tatam. the focus is on creating beautiful, handmade furniture, finished to exceptionally high standard

MADE WITH LOVE
each piece is handmade, primarily from man-made boards, with a choice of finishes: luxury high-gloss polished lacquer, or semi-matt laminate (like Formica)

PERFECT HIGH-GLOSS
the high-gloss finish is achieved by heavily priming the boards to create a smooth, flat surface. next we apply 8 - 10 coats of incredibly tough, high-grade, two-pack lacquer, sanding between coats. each piece is then sanded again down through five grades of increasingly fine sandpaper. it is then buffed and polished throughout. the resulting finish is extremely shiny and perfectly smooth, resembling porcelain

REAL WOOD VENEERS
we offer an extensive range of real wood veneers, from the very traditional to the new and exotic... and everything in between !

COLOUR MATCHING
we can match any colour to your sample, or to British Standard/RAL/Pantone references. every design can be made in two-tone combos, combining your personal choice of colours and / or woods

LAMINATE RANGE
our affordable semi-matt laminate is available in fabulous colours and amazingly realistic wood effects, in your choice of one colour or two-tone combos. we can source virtually any colour or wood from the vast range available. please ask if you would like to receive free laminate samples...
