Bio

My autobiography...
My name is Susan Michele and have been crocheting since 1972 when I was first taught in Junior High School. Growing up across the bay from San Francisco in Hayward during the 60's, I was a wide~eyed impressionable child exposed to a popular fashion statement worn by the "Hippies" of yesteryear.
This fashion was earth friendly, comfortable, and yet very colorful. A lot of the clothes were made through crochet and most of the furniture and plants were hung by macramé. It was a time of expressing one's self through the arts of painting and creating your own clothes and wanting to live as one with Mother Earth...
Then the 1970's brought The Disco era and with it a cloth, White Polyester. The art of crochet lost it's appeal and hooks & yarns were put up and forgotten.
Since all fashion trends eventually come full circle again, we are seeing more crocheted items in today's world. After all the "High Tech" living full of high cost and stress we put our children through, a simple, soft, cuddly toy is more appreciated and loved than the newest, loudest, flashest, hard encased toy of today. Not only are our treats washable but will be handed down from generation to generation...
All items are made with care and love so that they are able to stand up to the rigors of a tempermental, climbable, and throwable kidlet. This ensures that your child will not be without their friend from a lack of playability.
oops... back to me...
I have visited 39 out of our 50 US states and was born in Mound, Minnesota way back in 1959. My Father's family are from Crookston and Bemidji Minnesota where my Grandparents ran a fishing resort on Big Lake. It was called The Maple Beach Resort.
Mother was from Iowa where she was adopted at age 8. We found out later that she had 2 sisters but they never got close.
My parents and I then moved when I was only 9 months old to Southern California near Anaheim where I became a "big sister" to my baby brother! We then moved to Northern California where I lived in Hayward, Fremont, Castro Valley, and San Lorenzo. In 1977, I graduated from James Logan High School.
In 1983, I moved Price, UT. I became a mother with the arrival of my daughter Melissa and 3 years later had her brother Clayton. In 1989, I attended the College of Eastern Utah and earned my Associate of Science and then moved to Ogden where I majored in Geology with a Chemistry minor for Secondary Education at Weber State University.
My Daughter has since blessed me with a Granddaughter, Taylor, and a Grandson, Josh. They all still live in Ogden, UT.
... once again... me! Yeah, I go off on tangents
Moving in 1994 to Illinois one very cold and dreary winter, I left East Moline, IL as soon as I could after only 5 months in May. brrrrrr
I then moved to Charlotte, North Carolina where I met my beloved Husband and we have been married since 2000. I also have a Mom~in~law (whom has blessed me with her love,) my chirping love bird, Tweety, and a total of 3 neices, and 7 nephews.
My past includes owning my own '76 Police Special Harley Davidson full dresser, being a Sunday School Teacher, a Girl Scout Leader, raising Shih Tzu puppies, Curley Earred Kittens, and growing up with a virtual zoo of a wide variety of pets, from Guinea Pigs, bunnies, frogs, snakes, hamsters, turtles, cockatiels, parakeets, parrots, opossum, to an ant farm. I even had a Mama Cat that put her kittens, after they were born into an old eagle nest in our back yard! Tell me that wasn't wierd walking under a tree and hearing kittens above you...
Growing up a rough and tumble tomboy into a head-strong teenager who blessed her Mother with endless sleepless nights... which did come back full round with my own daughter... ~sigh~ I am mechanically inclined where I can fix about anything... hate to be proven wrong, and am as stubborn as a mule!
On tippy~toe I am 5'1" and am weight challenged for my height... I have an evil sense of humor and live to play "Devil's Advocate." I draw blood holding my tongue not being sarcastic... out loud that is! I go often to get Tetanus shots for my mind is always in the gutter. Love kids, pets, and the beach... I dye my hair blonde to give people a fair warning I am ditzy and an airhead (which I have been trying to beat since I was in High School.) I actually do have a brain, and love math and science! My eyes are hazel but will turn a bright green and a vivid blue with certain moods.
Due to a recent very nasty health problem, I had to quit smoking for good and to keep my hands and fingers busy, have taken up crocheting again. So, yes, all items are from a smoke free home!
Specializing in small items such as baby clothes, booties, blankets, bonnets, baby sets, toys, (either stuffees or Amigurumi style,) doll clothes, and angels (tree toppers and Porcelain), keeps it from getting dull and I am able to use my creativity, as you can see in past sold items.
Custom orders are created and then the finished items are posted so that they are viewable. I create then post ready to sell items between custom orders once they are done and ready to be sold.
Thank you for looking at my site and I hope I didn't bore you!
