Someone once told me that art is a necessity. It's true, how often do you walk into a home that has completely bare walls? For me, living in dark New York City apartments, I want my own art to remind me of the light of spring all year round. I love flowers, beaches, boats and animals. Anything that brings me outdoors, I take pictures of.

I am a self-taught photographer, though I did once spend a semester in a darkroom developing black and white film and printing my work one contact sheet or test strip at a time, which was invaluable to learning how individualized the process of creating art really is. I love color and anything with contrast. I love to get up close to my subject. I love experimenting with all kinds of photography, from 35mm to fisheye and other toy cameras, to through the viewfinder and Polaroid.
