Bio

Hi! My name is Charlie. I live in San Diego where I spend my free time singing and swimming.

I create hand-painted shirts using stencils, cut-outs and spray paint. I use images that are meaningful to the wearer, such as religious symbols or favorite things.

It is exciting for me to make shirts this way because of the unpredictable nature of spray paint. I never know how a new stencil will turn out until after I spray the shirt. I just have to take a leap of faith and go for it. Hence the name: hope & spray.

I use spray paint because of the richness in color and texture that it adds to the shirt. After the first few washes, the image softens and the unique spray pattern becomes more apparent. The image is permanent.

While I do have an assortment of images that I have made stencils of, I am always looking for new ideas. If there is any image you'd like to see on a shirt, please let me know!

Worker treatment is important to me. The blank shirts I used are made either in Turkey (Continental Clothing) or America (American Apparel) by employees that are paid a living wage and receive medical treatment.

Sizing runs a little small. Please ask any sizing questions. If you sometimes wear a medium and sometimes wear a large, get a large. There is a fit guarantee: if it doesn't fit, send it back to me within 5 days (postmarked), and I'll send you one in a size that fits. No other returns or refunds at this time.
