Bio
The little bird in my profile picture is my green cheek conure, Ivy. My black cap conure, Huxley, got shy. Anyway she crapped on my photo backdrop. I should know better.
I have a BFA from the Cooper Union. It's a fine thing to have. Never mind the 'now what happens' stage after you graduate. It all comes out in the wash. I've made tattoo needles, helped build a carousel and taken my turn in the service industry. I'm pretty sure this time around I've found out what I want to do do, for the doing is the thing, plus you get a thing! Try to unpack that one, I dare you.
Yarn fascinates me. No, I'm not a kitten. It's a technology thing. I paint, I draw, I spin. I love the process, the tools needed, the skills needed. Having said that, I refuse to be nostagic about doing things the 'traditional' way. I don't think it was better when people had to work in dank basements spinning linen for lace until they went blind. Not a good time folks. I'm interested in a different concept of production. What we choose to buy, what we choose to surround ourselves with, informs the society that we live in. This is an important concept to consider in our society of mass production, mass leisure, and massive consumption.
Okay. stopping with that. I love yarn.
