Bio

I like old textile fabrics; it is a material with memoir of his own. I choose them attentively in second hands or I get them from my friends and wash them in ecological laundry agent. I love saving and working with used silk, wool, cotton and other natural material, in some case mixed fabric with interesting structure or design. This material is suitable mainly for dolls clothing but for bodies often too. But primarily I make doll bodies of bourette silk, cotton, linen, and fleece in case of felt bodies. Sometimes I use mixed fabric and wood. Often I work with yarn that I spin on drop spindle by myself. In case of bought yarn I indicate composition. Face details, sometimes also shoes I embroider or use application.

Formerly I started making dolls for my first daughter. Since I am educated as a puppet and stage designer, I replaced gradually puppets by dolls. Also in my graduation theses actresses played with dolls in their hands instead of puppets.
I am highly inspired by fashion history (mainly twentieth), theatre, Asian cultures, primitive plastic arts and painting, butoh dance, yoga and ayurveda, landscape, stones and plants, Slavonic and other mythology, conceptual art, childern´s drawings…
