Greetings & Salutations!
Thank you for perusing my creations. My first memories of making jewelry date back to junior high school in the early 80s, when I would cannibalize different pieces, Frankenstein them together and make something entirely new. I even recall my parents teasing that my earrings looked like fishing lures. My response? To go buy actual fishing tackle and incorporate that into my creations! Naturally, this was long before DIY and the craft movement became what it is today since there wasn't a bead shop to be found in my town.
A few years ago, after meandering around in various crafts in a renewed effort to express my creativity, I stumbled back into jewelry making, but this time with a vengeance! I use jewelry design a way to balance my work as a college health educator -- which doesn't often give me much in the way of tangible results. I can't exactly hold that up and say "I made this!" the way I can a pair of beaded earrings or a hammered pendant!
Everything I make is one of a kind and a creation of my imagination. I am inspired by odd things such as when a particular pendant recently made me think of an olive (so then I thought of martinis which opened up a whole new color palette). It's essentially about the random play of the flotsam and jetsam in my mind. In the end, I am most frequently inspired by the beads and findings themselves -- they tell me what goes together and I just listen to their wisdom!
Generally speaking, I don't make anything I wouldn't wear myself. That means what I create is not about the latest trend; it's about the latest flight of fancy that my imagination has taken me on.
I hope you enjoy and feel free to share any comments, questions, concerns or statements of disgust! :)
