Bio

I was born in Providence, R.I., and received a B.A. in Fine Arts from American University in Washington, D.C. where I was trained as a silk-screen artist. Silk screening is a challenging craft that involves intricate layering of separately-printed and colored design elements.

Years later, this ability to layer colors and combine textures in unique ways became instrumental when in 1982,I began designing beaded necklaces. I've been very fortunate to travel with my husband to the Far East, Middle East, Africa and Europe where I've acquired an enormous palette of beads and findings, which have allowed me to create a huge and diverse catalog of unique handmade jewelry. These designs, utilizing the many hundreds of different components at my fingertips, include many one-of-a-kind antique Chinese pieces from the Ch'ing and Ming Dynasty . Other components that I may use include carved gemstone beads (many of which are no longer even available), Japanese glass beads, antique silver, coral, and pre-ban ivory from the late 1970' . All of my beaded necklaces, like fine pearls, are hand knotted to preserve their integrity.

The BEADLES line has been featured in Bloomingdale's, Garfinkle's, Saks Fifth Avenue, the Smithsonian's mail order catalogs and museum shops, the Chicago Art Institute's museum shop and mail order catalog, the Seattle Museum of Fine Art, the Smithsonian's Air & Space Museum and Sackler Gallery, and many boutiques and galleries. My jewelry has been featured in the Washington Post, Baltimore Magazine and in TV interviews.

In 1992 I launched THREE RING CIRCUITS (3RC), a jewelry and accessory line of Recycled Circuit Board "geekery" products that use recycled PCBs (printed circuit boards) and "found objects".
This line of recycled Circuit Board products has also achieved national prominence. Some designs are whimsical, some are strictly geometric, but all are examples of unique handmade jewelry and decorative and useful home or office products.
The jewelry and home and office products -clipboards, keychains, magnets, bookmarks, picture frames, sun catchers and clocks are definitely conversation makers!
THREE RING CIRCUITS (3RC) has been featured in museum shops, including those at the Smithsonian Institution Air and Space Museum and the Boston Computer museum, as well as many galleries and boutiques across the U.S. and Canada that sell fashion accessories. This line is also now being sold in Europe with great success!

I'm available to design custom beaded necklaces and, as my time allows, also do restringing and knotting of clients own beaded necklaces, including pearls. Please feel free to contact me for pricing information on custom unique handmade jewelry. I also have my own website.

I have 2 grown children and currently reside in Maryland with my husband, 3 cats and 2 dogs! All our pets are rescues, and I also volunteer with 2 rescue groups when my time permits.

I am pleased to belong to CREST - Capital Region Etsy Street Team: Our team is a group of sellers located in DC, MD, and VA. You can find items made by our members by searching tags for "etsycresteam".***
