Here’s about me - -

You could probably say I was a born traveler. Born into an Air Force family, I traveled a great deal while I was young. By the time I was 12 years old I had lived in more houses than I was years old and that pattern has continued throughout my life, as I married into the military as well. Therefore, I never had real roots anywhere to call home. However, as my husband and I have now settled down in a lovely home, Texas is where we will be hanging our hats.

I am mother of four grown sons, all married and I have 15 grandchildren and two great-grands. So there are many things to fill my time with fun and relaxation, as well as intrigue and challenge.

Living overseas has provided the opportunity, or quite often the absolute necessity, to try my hand at many feats, including costume design and production, floral arranging, cake decorating, and even furniture reupholstering. Well, you do what you have to do when it needs doin' and I'm always up to the challenge. <grins>

Country living is for me nowadays – always thought I’d love it and I do. We have two inside kitties named Sasha and Moonshine (named so because he’s black as night – not because he drinks illegal liquor) ha, two outside kitties, our mousers named Sunshine and Meow-Sing, two Black Star hens, two Orpington Buff hens, two Rhode Island Red hens, two New England Barred Rock hens, five Bantam hens, two Americana hens named Ms. Betsy and Ms. Rosie, a pair of guineas, one special Bantam hen named Penny, one sassy Bantam leghorn rooster named Rooster, and one Pygmy goat named Valentine - whew - Sorry no partridge in a pear tree at this time, but I’m working on it. :o)

Looking back, my mother taught me to embroider when I was eight (8) years old, as her mother had taught her. Since then my love of needlework and handwork has grown. I have always enjoyed embroidery, crewel stitching, machine sewing, crocheting, sane quilting, crazy quilting, and just about most anything of a creative nature.

As a child, I was a collector – oh well, who am I kidding - - I am STILL a collector. In my childhood memories of family picnics and camping, I was always the one that ventured into the area searching out all of those special treasures just waiting for me to scoop them up. A small piece of tree bark, a stone or two, shells, bird feathers, pinecones and a few wild flowers and voila – there was our picnic table centerpiece. That was me – then and now. :o). I dearly love to create and improvising is especially fun for me.

Sane quilting came to the front of my activity scene some years ago and I have thoroughly enjoyed those experiences and I still make a sane quilt now and then. I am such a lover of fabrics that it is practically impossible for me to stop buying, or should I say ‘collecting’ fabrics. I’m sure there’s valuable therapy in there somewhere, don’t you agree? !

While for years I have embroidered all kinds of items, from pillowcases (when I was a little girl), to dresser scarves, pictures, baby clothes, ornaments and so on, the art of crazy quilting has become my absolute favorite pastime and I always have some (or several) projects going. The incredible nature of crazy quilting is such that it always provides the opportunity for a variety of stitching and decorating that can include silk ribbon embroidery, beading and oh so much more. This is where that collecting habit I told you about, really kicks in. On these crazy quilting projects I not only embroider, but can add all sorts of wonderful treasures such as charms, buttons, beads, shells, jewelry, photos, laces, silk ribbons, and surely something else that has temporarily slipped my mind. I really love having all those choices while I’m stitching away on some lovely treasure, whether it’s to be a gift or on its way to market.

There are two great places to stitch in my home. My mother, who lived with us for several years, passed away shortly after we moved into our new home and she into her lovely new bedroom. Well, I’ve chosen Mother’s room as one of my stitching domains. I can sit back on her little loveseat with my vast stitching paraphernalia and stitch to my heart's content, while surrounded by lovely memories of my mother. My second favorite place to stitch, and equally enjoyable, is in our master bedroom, especially during winter when I can have a cozy fire in the fireplace, usually with the company of two cuddly kitties napping nearby – and hot cappuccino is a definte favorite.

As you are shopping and adding to your collection of handmade items, please remember these and all crazy quilted items can become treasured additions to your heirlooms. They should be treated just as dearly and carefully as you would treat any other valuable heirlooms, being sure to keep them from bright sunlight, as UV rays can be quite damaging. Strive to keep them at moderate temperatures. Avoid extreme dryness or moisture.

Well, as they say, “I could write a book.”, but then who would read it – ha. However, I’m hopeful that this smidgen of a bio has helped you to get to know me a bit. I am trustworthy, thrifty, loyal and yes, if you add in ‘brave’ then I qualify as a Girl Scout (actually was one for a few years and earned LOTS of badges).

Don't let this 'nana' profile mislead you - I'm super young at heart and a fun-loving, very pro-military gal. NO rocking chair for me ! lol

Oh - almost forgot - - I am a proud member of etsy's Christian Artists Street Team (CAST) and the HOMEFRONT team - spouses supporting uniformed military members.

Please enjoy my shop (as I rather slowly get new things listed; I trust you will find something you decide you just can’t live without– perhaps we all have a little ‘collector’ in us. hmmmmm
