Bio

"Anyone can look for fashion in a boutique or history in a museum. The creative explorer looks for history in a hardware store and fashion in an airport." - Robert S. Wieder

I learned how to make chains from gum wrappers as a child and was inspired to try making jewelry chains from all types of candy wrappers in 2006.

I feel like everyday since I first started Candy Calamity I'm finding new ways to be inspired by ordinary things like tea bag wrappers and potato chip bags. I love taking everyday things that would otherwise end up in a landfill and making something beautiful instead.

Its important to me to run my business in an earth friendly fashion. I carefully search out supplies to 'upcycle'. Almost everything from the candy wrappers, to the buttons and embroidery floss and even my shipping mailers come from outside the consumer stream, instead of thinking of a design and then going to the store for supplies, I look at what I have and draw my inspiration from there.
