Bio

Marie Case Creations is created, owned, and operated by Haley Waddington

I am a young artist born and raised in the little town of Wrangell, Alaska. I left to attend school and travel but am currently residing in Wrangell. I enjoy the laid back and relaxed lifestyle that people have in Southeast Alaska. Wrangell is neighbors with Petersburg and Ketchikan and has mild weather. With around 1200 residents and our added seasonal workers in the summer, Wrangell is a close knit community where people still hold open doors for others and everyone knows everyone. It has beautiful scenery no matter what time of year and throws the best 4th of July celebrations I have ever experienced.

I graduated with Associates of Computer Animation from Full Sail Real World College in Winter Park Florida. When I left school I ended up enjoying traditional art more and kept working with Photoshop. I started to work on the idea of Marie Case Creations in 2004/2005 and ended up creating the "china girl" logo. The name is Marie Case Creations has no special meaning I just enjoyed the sound of it. It sounded friendly to me and didn’t have my name in it.

I started with the idea of creating greeting cards. My first card was a post card that I created with a pen and marker sketch that I had printed at kinkos and sent out to friends and family to share my idea of my own art company. On the post card was a girl with big long hair, and dress and boots standing next to a tree with hearts in it. It was very simple and had Marie Case Creations on back.

The majority of my designs are drawn out with pencil, inked over with black pens, and then scanned into the computer. Once in the computer they are cleaned up and colored in Photoshop. I work in other mediums but this is the one that I use the most because I enjoy the colors and effects that you get in Photoshop. The images of people that I created are not based on people that I know unless they are commissions. Once the images are finished in the computer I print them and package them.

The greeting cards are 8.5" by 11" come with an envelope and a clear protective sleeve. The inside is blank unless it is marked on the package or specially ordered. I have ordered postcards, t-shirts, and greeting cards from companies but do the majority of card printing myself.

I accept commissions and have done several over the years. I have created everything from portraits, wall murals for bedrooms, company logos, and personalized greeting cards. If you are interested in working with me for a commission I will work with you through email or over the phone. I am open to and willing to discuss new ideas. My commissions start at $60.00 for people interested in projects such as greeting cards or similar projects. Larger creations will be discussed at a later time but will run $10.00 an hour. My art is my hobby and third job but I hope to one day be able to do this full time. Contact me at hwaddington [!at] hotmail.com
