StrangeChild's Profile
Bio
I was hatched from a dragon's egg three decades ago, kidnapped by humans and have been trying to get home ever since... ok, not really.
I live in the top floor of an old farm house with my husband, our dog, and 2 bearded dragons. (There are also a variety of spiders living here but they're squatters really.)
I've been making Bright Eyed Creatures for over 3 years now. The Sun Dragons are my favorites, but I also make Moon Dragons and Imps.
I primarily work with river rocks, glass marbles and polymer clay. I like working with polymer clay because it stays soft until cured in an oven. My favorite brand is Fimo because it works really well for caning (aka millefiori). This technique allows me to create designs that repeat throughout blocks of clay. I cut slices of this clay and run them through a pasta machine (it's permanently set for lasagna) to make the slices a uniform thickness. The result is that I am able to reproduce an effect for multiple projects while still giving each one it's own special personality. All of my creatures have been created using this technique although some designs are more detailed than others.

A little background on Bright Eyed Creatures.
Sun Dragons get their name from the way light makes their eyes shine. They are the most commonly found of the BEC's. They are all brightly colored, but colors and patterns change with each hatching. A Sun Dragon's favorite thing to do is to bask on a rock in a brightly lit spot. Baby Sun Dragons are the easiest to tame because they don't have wings yet. Winged Sun Dragons can be tamed but it takes much more time and patience.
Moon Dragons are closely related to Sun Dragons but have evolved for survival at night. A Moon Dragon's scales glow in the dark as a way of scaring away larger predators, like Closet Monsters. These fascinating creatures are strongest when they are allowed to sleep in a well lit spot all day. During the day, the colors and patterns of a Moon Dragon's scales often appear paler and simpler than their brightly colored cousins, the Sun Dragons. However, a Moon Dragon's beauty must be seen in the dark to be fully appreciated.
Imps are small horned creatures that often live near Sun and Moon Dragons. Imps have been found in a variety of sizes, shapes and colors. Some have been reported as having eyes that shine like a Sun Dragon. Others have been found with eyes that glow in the dark. Some have been reported to have 4 legs, while others are said to have four eyes. It is certainly safe to say that no two Imps are ever alike. One of the most fascinating thing about Imps is that they are very good at scaring away gremlins, closet monsters, dust bunnies and other creatures that go bump in the night.

Bits and Pieces Jewelry
Sometimes when I'm working with clay I end up with extra bits and pieces that are too cool to use as scrap clay. So I decided to start making jewelry with it.
