In this shop, I hope you enjoy my sculptural lines based on the concept of functional ceramics where the object takes on a new image through its usage. These pieces represent a body of work exploring the cross between sculpture, function, architecture and design.
For example: I am interested in how a miniature human head can function to hold and carry items from our everyday lives. Items such as scarves, neck ties, coats, and bags.
Or through the use of form, color, material, and living organisms, I have designed forms that beg for specific floral elements to complete a sculptural composition. Each shape is a separate unit allowing for the owner to remove the water reservoir in the refilling process. I am interested in this everyday mundane activity allowing for the growth of new perspectives in the work.
Each piece is handmade and one of a kind. I make everything myself from the clay bodies, colored slips, and glazes giving a unique and personal touch. I fire these pieces either in a natural gas kiln or an electric kiln to cone 6 or cone 10.
