scarletbloom's Profile

Bio

Scarlet Bloom has grown out of my passion for making things by hand, creating silk screened cards to hand embroidered textiles.

Growing up in the farmlands of Wisconsin my time was filled with art and the outdoors. Now in Chicago, I feel so lucky to be a part of the burgeoning crafting community. The last ten years have been a whirlwind of making things and participating in art/craft fairs. This wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for the support and encouragement of my friends, including a group called The Crafty Ladies, www.craftyladieschicago.com. Over the last five years we've spent many evenings in each other's living rooms crafting and sharing stories.

My latest project is expanding on the first art/craft fair I put together called Indie Arts Market. It took place this summer in Chicago, bringing together a diverse group of 30 artists to showcase and sell thier wares. My intent is to create another venue for independent artists to promote and sell thier work. The more exposure, the better!

My artistic endeavors are continually expanding. I'm constantly being inspired by outsider artists, Mexican art, Asian Indian art, the landscape of New Mexico, found objects and nature.

I hope you enjoy my items for sale as much as I like making them!
