This is all very mysterious. How does anybody reach the realization that what they're meant to do in life is smash plates with a hammer? I mean, really. Anyhow, that's my thing. And I don't only accept this as truth, I embrace it. With protective covering to avoid cuts.

What I do is take these shards, made from truly gorgeous antique china, and reconfigure them into functional pieces that are each unique works of art. It's recycling at its most beautiful

I call it reChinafication. Its synonym is mosaics, but that's so SAT.

China shards are only part of the story. The stained glass plays with light with such sly humor that you have to laugh each time you are fooled and tear up when the opalescence is too beautiful. I also use a lot of brass bead chain, which makes a piece look like heirloom jewelry.
