Bio

With doctors, they call it ‘practicing’ medicine for a reason. I like to consider myself a practicing artist. Constantly learning, growing and changing.
I grew up in Reno, Nevada in the shadows of my terminally ill brother. If I learned nothing else from his short life, it would be to love harder. Even while giving him everything they had, my parents were super supportive. My mom is my hero.

My friends and I would sneak off to San Francisco every chance we’d get. While I felt that Reno was too dull, SF was too busy. After I turned 21 I made the short trip to Portland Oregon. It felt like home. Four days after deciding I wanted to live here my bags were packed, and I was on a plane.

After a series of less than fun life events I met my boyfriend. We later adopted a dog, a cat, two hamsters, and recently a snake. Thus the AmyWhoo Zoo was born.
My better half oozes honesty and integrity like no other. Thank goodness he’s colorblind. If he saw the world the way I do, I think he’d hate some of my decorating choices.

I asked him how he’d feel if I quit my job and concentrated on surviving on art. He said, “Whatever makes you happy.”
He was serious.
I wasn’t.

That’s love.

Together we’re going to grab hold of life and give it a good shake.
