transcendentalhippie's Profile

Bio

I’m a plant biology student at Ohio University where I spend my free time doing yoga, taking nature photographs and drinking coffee. I have a fondness for nature, especially trees, mosses and fuzzy rodents. My favorite color, of course, is green.

.

I fell in love with the American transcendentalist writers when I first read Thoreau, Irving, Emerson and Whitman in a high school English class. I have an odd habit of picking up old copies of The Sketchbook by Washington Irving.

.

Friends have called me a hippie before, mostly because I’m vegetarian and quick to nag if I witness them tossing out a recyclable bottle. I don’t consider myself an environmentalist, more of a treehugger/yogi who buys fair trade/organic and organizes tree plantings. My tree-planting group can be reached at these websites:

Occasionally, I teach yoga. This summer, I volunteered as a yoga teacher for my former high school cross country team. Earlier in the summer I taught a week long yoga class for third/fourth graders at my favorite nature center (Aullwood Audubon Center and Farm). For yogic updates, http://eilayoga.wordpress.com/.

.

Currently, my focus has been on photography, but I also dabble in collage, sculpture (mostly small scale), sewing, and of course the occasional doodling spree during lecture. My hope/wish/prayer is to take a ceramics course before graduating in 2009.

.

In addition to my shot here on Etsy, I am also working on: selling yoga mat bags through Wild Mercantile in Athens and yoga t-shirts through Inhale Yoga Studio (also in Athens), and painting a bodhi tree on the wall of the Inhale Yoga studio. If you're in Athens, please check them out!

.

Peace, Love & Trees,

Courtney
