I enjoy capturing the beauty of nature in everyday surroundings -- often what you can see if you take a minute to stop and look around.

I've been a photographer for as long as I can remember. I started with a little point-and-shoot camera when I was a kid, and moved up to a 35mm SLR in high school (it's still in the closet -- I don't know that I'll use it again, but I just can't get rid of it!). I had a makeshift darkroom in our basement -- no running water except for the washing machine, so things were a little, well, interesting. :) I bought my first digital camera back in the mid-'90s. It was a Kodak point-and-shoot, and did the job for, oh, I think over ten years. I decided it was time to move up to a digital SLR last year, and I'm *so* glad I made the move. I shoot all digital now, but don't make any digital alterations (except for a crop here and there to allow for an extreme closeup, or the edit on the Squirrel Nutkin shot to get rid of a "present" a bird left behind on the platform).

My personal mission statement is to utilize my talents to encourage others to brighten their days by appreciating the world around them, living their best life now, doing what feels good to them without hurting others or damaging the world. I think my photography falls into that nicely -- I hope you think so, too.
