About deciding what to be when you grow up: Who says you have to grow up? Inside, I am still 12 years old (okay, maybe more like 10; 12 stunk). I attribute my overall resilience, happiness at bringing joy to others, and a healthy, if not scatological, sense of humor to my staying young inside. Too many people in my orbit live their lives by TV scripts, as though they are supposed to start griping about wrinkles, flab, CRS-syndrome. Not me, man. That's all fodder for the humor machine.

Ok, the professional bit: An art director with a design firm in Manhattan for more years than I care to remember, I reinvented myself as an artisan jeweler because frankly, designing jewelry makes me happy. I studied at the Museum School in Boston and the School of Visual Arts in New York. I have additional training in calligraphy, watercolor, and metalsmithing.

My work has been sold in The Fig Leaf Gallery in Ohio, the Metamorphosis Gallery and Artful Image Gallery in Massachusetts, and Jewel Spiegel Gallery in New Jersey.

ABOUT THE GEMSTONES
I create all of my jewelry with AAA-graded gemstone beads. In Gemella Jewelry you often find:

Aquamarine (the pale blue variety of beryl)
Heliodor, which is yellow aquamarine
Morganite, which is pink aquamarine

Citrine, often pale lemon or deep yellow, chemically a quartz
Ametrine, a mix (in the same stone) of citrine and amethyst
Amethyst, the violet stone which is also a quartz
Prasiolite, often called "green amethyst," also a quartz

Kyanite, a deep sapphire blue (from the Greek "cyan")

Tunduru, Songea, or UMBA Sapphires (each so-called for the region in Tanzania from which they originate)

Topaz, either London or Swiss Blue
Tourmaline, often in chrome green, rose, or the rare and stunning indicolite - my favorite!
