Bio

~ Gecko ~ A sign of good luck and a symbol of keeping one eye on the past while focusing the other on the future.

Designs inspired by curiosity with the world and a need to find the perfect use for everything in it. I look at everything as a possible art supply or material and love learning and developing new techniques. I enjoy working with found objects, recycled, reclaimed, reconstructed and natural materials. The Gecko's Nest practices “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” whenever possible.

Check out NaturesStudio.etsy.com to see more of my unique creations featuring nature and animals as a theme.

My studio is located on the Wallkill River in beautiful Gardiner, New York with a view of the Shawangunk Mountains. My work is a result of my experiences, interactions and fascination with nature. I love to combine techniques and materials and especially love learning new things. Presently my studio consists of a small wood shop, ceramic studio with an electric kiln, painting and drawing stations, and now stained glass.

I received a B.A. in Art and a B.S. in Biology from SUNY New Paltz in 2000 and have been working in the arts since. I've had the privilege to work with and learn from artist Bill Richards who developed the "Art of Necessity." This program facilitates the use of the creative process as a tool for aiding healing in children and adults with spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries.

Currently I work part time as a Freefall Videographer at Skydive the Ranch and full time creating in my studio Monday through Friday.

On Wednesdays I volunteer at the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem, N.Y. Visit nywolf.org for more info. and to schedule a visit.

To see my work in person stop by Esoterica and Isabella's Treasures in New Paltz, and the Handmade Gallery in Montgomery, N.Y.
