Bio

And so it goes, out of the deep dark cubicle and into the light! I've done it! - left the corporation and given myself over to self- sufficiency and ETSY! What began as a hobby years ago,has grown into a passion for designing. I don't like using patterns or templates as a rule, so, very often my creations are one of a kind. I love vibrant colour and you will find that most of my items portray this. Many of my rock buildings have been researched from history, particularly the saltboxes and biscuit boxes, quite common in my neck of the woods, and I absolutely love the quirky colourful row houses which are seen in the big city a few hours from here. Just as many of my creations are pure whimsy, with a splash of my own personality thrown in!

I was honoured to receive the "Crafts of Character" designation from the Province of Newfoundland for my rock folk houses in 2006 and Best New Product Award for my fishing stages in 2007.

With rock, wood and fibre as my canvas, the possibilities are endless. The strong contrast between the rock and the softness of wool provides me with the balance I am searching for.

I am a self taught artist for the most part, but have had the pleasure on occasion to study with a few fine artists in both Alberta and Newfoundland and recently participated in a wonderful Textile Design Studies Class in St. John's, Newfoundland which encompassed many aspects including hand dying, embroidery, design, felting, and creating felted wool.

An empty nester, my days are filled with my art, my wonderful husband, our 4 amazing daughters, one special little granddaughter and our 3 cats and dog.

I hope you enjoy my folky endeavours, and remember, it is so much nicer to get caught between a rock and a soft place!
