KOSHi BiO:
I started KOSHi in the fall of 2003 with "KOSHi iS... TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL", a xerox zine I made for my friends and co-workers while bored at work one season. I worked on a tv show at the WB & that afforded me an ungodly amount of down time, enough to write & draw & dream about what else I could be doing with my life, besides answering phones, fetching coffee & serving someone else's dream.
"KOSHi iS... TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL" was pretty rough. I wasn't trying to go pro at that time. I was just trying to amuse myself & express some ideas I had bobbing around in my head. I had no idea that it would make the kind of impact it did, and the comments I got back were enough to spur me on to try to make a biz of writing & drawing full time.
I went on to hand illustrate some leather purses (KOSHi BAGS) that made it onto Jennie Garth's arm for an episode of "What I Like About You" and into the pages of Redbook magazine, then quit my job in Spring of 2004 to open the original KOSHi SHOP, which sold KOSHi BAGS, as well as illustrated panties, tees, and apparel and was featured in the New York Times & Lucky magazine's Catch Of The Day.... http://iluvkoshi.com/AsSeen.htm
I also did a lot of illustration for hire, kept an online zine at iLuvKOSHi.com, had a spell selling goods from my favorite female indie designers, and produced a compilation cd called, "L.A. WOMAN : SONG BOOK ONE", featuring Libbie Schrader, Rachel Robinson, Beth Thornley, and many more lovely singer-songwriters.
Now, it's just me again, and this KOSHi SHOP is a stripped down version of the original. I prefer it this way & have really come to adore Etsy, since signing up in January of '08. It's taken me over a year and a half of window shopping & favorite-ing to get up the courage to join in as a seller, and now I'm wondering what took me so long! I LOVE this place. I do. And I hope you love me too.
