subversiveseamstress's Profile
Bio
My name is Hesper Wolfe. I am originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but now reside in Chicago, Illinois. I currently have the stressful, yet very rewarding job of being a high school art educator. After a long, harrowing day of dealing with demanding teenagers, I love to relax by sewing, embroidering, and doing all things crafty.
Motivated by my love of thrift stores, all things retro and of course sewing, I began to design my own bags, purses, and other accessories. I truly enjoy salvaging various vintage table cloths, retro clothing, and maybe your grandma's old curtains for fun, new purposes. After a tremendous response from family and friends, I developed Subversive Seamstress Designs to sell my products to the general public. From there, I began selling my items at Indie Craft Fairs and Art Shows across the Midwest. I also started my own website to further promote my indie business endeavors: SubversiveSeamstressDesigns.com.
Lastly, and most importantly, I believe we must not only look good, but also protect our suffering planet. My goal is to merge unique design with social & environmental consciousness. I work hard to provide stylish, functional, and durable products that people will love and enjoy. All of our products are handmade in a smoke and pet-free environment from "green," recycled vintage fabrics.
