Bio
Aimee Golant is a sixth generation Metalsmith, currently based in San Francisco, California. Upon her graduation from San Francisco State University in 1996 with a major in Sociology and a minor in Metal, she began her career as an independent metal artist selling her unique metal art nationally and on the web at http://www.aimeegolant.com.
The honors Aimee has earned include: the Jewish Museum of New York's acquisition of one of her evocative mezuzahs for its permanent collection, her Barbed Wire Mezuzah traveling into space on the Columbia Space Shuttle, winning a NICHE Award for her Bars and Windows Menorah.
She has created mezuzot and jewelry benefiting the Darfur and Women’s Empowerment programs American Jewish World Service, the Holocaust and Diversity programs at Whitwell Middle School in Whitwell Tennessee, Jewish Family and Children’s Services of the Bay Area, the Jewish Women’s Breast Cancer organization Sharsharet, and the Upper Mid-West Region of Hadassah.
As a teacher, Aimee founded the Metal Art program at the San Francisco Waldorf High School. She teaches jewelry and silversmithing at The Crucible in Oakland, CA, Scintillant Studio in San Francisco, CA. At Kehilla Community Synagogue in Piedmont, CA, she leads classes on creating enameled mezuzot. New schools to be added include the Craft Gym in San Francisco CA, and the Richmond Art Center in Richmond, CA. She has several students whom she teaches metal art to privately in her studio.
