Bio

My name is Sue Simpson and I live and work in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, UK. I have been a calligrapher, Lettering Artist and Creative Bookbinder since 1988.

WHY THE PURPLE PIXIE?
Well, I always seem to dress in purple and absolutely love the colour! I’ve even recently died my hair purple! And at 5’2” I think I’m qualified to be a pixie. Lol. And if you can’t laugh at yourself….

I am a pagan and have a deep passion for my lettering and take my inspiration form my spiritual beliefs and the nature and elements that surround us. My work is motivational, Inspirational as well as thought provoking and meditative.
I specialise in OOAK (One of A Kind) at my studio as I just love creating things that are personal to either the person receiving it or the person giving it.

I am registered partially sighted after being diagnosed with Presumed Ocular Histoplasmosis in 1997 but still work with optic lenses.
My motto is ‘While I can Create…I will!’.

I love my work and the pleasure it not only gives me but the people who buy it. I have gained many friends all over the globe through my work and it is a true blessing.
