anthrid's Profile

Bio

Anthrid is a small fluffy woodland creature with long ears and a “cotton ball” tail given to illicitly nibbling lettuce and pansies in suburban gardens.

Or possibly she is a 27 year old Chicagoan with awfully busy paws who just daydreams about nibbling pansies.

I draw my inspiration from a fairly wide spectrum. I lived in Norway for two and a half years which definitely tuned me into the malevolent fairy tale world and the works of Theodor Kittelsen. I also love Danish/Polish/Hungarian paper cuts and have learned to make some darned good paper dolls. I have a fervent love of Beatrix Potter and modern Japanese styles.

I would rather have an original from the Runaway Bunny than a Chagall. I also prefer Dutch still lifes rampant with fruit and insects and animals to bolder landscapes. Call me a microcosm girl, but I tend to spend more time admiring a preying mantis on a stem than the grand vista beyond.
