Bio

Michal Wisniowski was born in Wrocław, Poland while the communist government was still in power. As the Solidarity movement gained momentum, his mother fled the country from increasing civil unrest to seek asylum in Western Europe until eventually settling in Germany.

Several years following the collapse of the communist regime in Poland, Michal's family returned to Wrocław briefly before emigrating to the United States. They made their home in Billings, Montana, where Michal began high school and a long period of acclimating to American culture. He later received his art education in Billings at Rocky Mountain College under two of the most dedicated art faculty, Mark S. Moak and James Baken.

During one of his art classes, Michal met his wife Nikki. Following both their graduations they had a wonderful wedding at the Yellowstone Art Museum, and then set out on the open road away from Montana. This is how they came to Wilmington, where they now reside and create art atop a treasury of old books.
