La De Da Bears

I began designing mohair bears in 1994 when my daughter, Chelsea was a little girl for her own collection. She grew out of being interested in collecting bears for a time, so my life took off in other artistic directions. In November 2007, my passion bloomed again to design bears and thus, the La De Da' Bears business was born.

I work from my art studio located at my home here in Southern California. I work only with the finest materials, mohair, glass eyes and various quality fabrics. I enhance some of the modern bears with hand sculpted eye lids and noses out of clay. My hands and heart are in all aspects of the creation process of each bear from pattern design, sewing to painting and shading to sculpting.

La De Da' Bears have old world charm with neoteric elements and attitude. It is my goal to provide an heirloom to pass down through the generations, telling a story about the far past, the recent past and into the future. My collection is diverse. One is a Japanese style series called Chibi Cutie© Bears. They incorporate the Japanese style with a soupçon of old prim style adding a new dimension to the La De Da' collection. Spring/Summer of 2009, I have embarked on a collection of French inspired/style bears in the form of the famous Pierrot and my own interpretation of a French Fairy.

My hope is that the La De Da' Bears serve as a tangible reminder of all the finer things in life, as well as childhood, sweet memories, innocence and celebrating love. Most of all, I hope they make you smile.
